| Sugar | 1 cup |
| Baking soda | 1 tsp |
| Salt | 1/2 tsp |
| Unsalted butter | 1 stick (1/2 cup) |
| Chocolate chips (see note 1) | 1/2 bag, or as desired |
| Vanilla extract | A dash (optional) |
Note 1: You can replace the chocolate chips with chopped nuts, or just skip them if desired.
Note 2: Sometimes I cook the banana bread at 375 F, sometimes at 400 F. It varies the cook time and crunchiness of the crust on top, but either way you'll get good results.
